Dr. Helen D. Agustin-de Guzman, UPCM 1967, is a model of one who truly loves her country. She mobilized a community to rally behind the nation’s struggle for freedom, peace, justice, and truth, by contributing to the success of the NAMFREL movement. She modeled good governance by managing an emergency hospital and establishing several Botika ng Barangay. She promotes gender equality through community programs and advocacy for reproductive health rights, and contributed to the attainment of the millenium development goals through preventing maternal mortality. She has helped provide livelihood opportunities to the underserved. She truly embodies the vision of the UP College of Medicine for its graduates: leadership and excellence in serving the underserved.
